Alan is the initiator of and lead for the NIAP. He is the co-founder/initiator of the UK Nepal Friendship Society in conjunction with Ram Hari Adhikari. An artist himself, who specialises in fine art drawing (see image below) and who has represented England in this field at international level, Alan believes that Nepal’s artistic and creative community (both inside and outside of Nepal) have a very important part to play in international art at a global level, and that their vision and exceptional works can teach many in the West about global citizenship through the arts.
In the UK and in Nepal, he is recognised for his equality and inclusivity educational work, and believes that a multicultural UK can gain much at many levels from having a more effective awareness of Nepali cultural heritage through the arts.
Alan is a Committee member of the Britain-Nepal Chamber of Commerce, and a former Trustee and current organisation development & education officer of Dorset Race Equality Council: he is also a writer, equality and diversity specialist and consultant, and has had articles published in the and Nepali Patra article.
